Focal Point…A New Look!

Four years ago when we started cutting vinyl in the basement storage unit of our apartment, we never imagined we would one day design a pirate that would travel around the country, or work on one of the biggest holiday events in Helena. What started out as a side hobby has turned into a successful business, and we are incredibly grateful for all the wonderful people and projects that have brought us here.

We’ve grown a lot over the past few years, both in experience and knowledge. While we know that growth will always be ongoing, the confidence and ability we are carrying into our fifth year is much greater than it was when we began back in 2007. Because of that, we felt it was time that we had a look that conveyed our increased professionalism. So with that, we are very excited to be unveiling our new look for our logo and site! The new design reflects our desire for everyone we work with to feel confident in our work and enjoy our easy going approach. We hope that all of our clients, no matter the size of their project, walk away with a great design and a great experience.

To everyone who has allowed us to be a part of your projects so far – THANK YOU!

Introducing…PictureFilm

With a new year, we’d like to introduce a new venture. Tony is going to be pursuing his first love with a new branch of Focal Point: PictureFilm. With PictureFilm, Tony will be doing more photography and video projects in the months to come.
One of Tony’s biggest projects is in collaboration with Christopher Rebo Photography. Chris is an amazing local wedding photographer and he and Tony are excited to introduce FusionVideo – a combination of still photos and video footage of your wedding day. It’s a beautiful way to preserve and share all the moments and memories of your special day for years to come. We’ll be showcasing FusionVideo at the Helena Bridal Fair on Sunday, January 22nd, at the Helena Civic Center from 12:30-5:30pm. Mind Your Business

This year we’ve been blessed with several return clients. But we’ve also had some great new clients as well, including Pat and Tania, who came to us for logos and marketing materials for two separate projects. The first was their property management business which goes by the name “Mind Your Business” {love this!}. The second was for the non-profit they are in the process of starting ~ The Wise Man foundation. Through this non-profit they hope to bring help to people who can afford their mortgages, but can’t afford the upkeep and repairs their homes need. Think of it as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on a smaller scale.
We created a clean, professional design with bright colors for their business and a strong, warm design for the non-profit, which we carried over to the letterhead and business cards.
This was a great project to work on, with a great idea to get behind, and we wish Pat and Tania much success and blessings in their future endeavors!

Festival of Trees ~ Success!

A few weeks ago we got to see the final elements of all our design work over the past year come together into one wonderful weekend! With the invitations and program finished, it was time to enjoy the evening. And what an evening it was! Tony and I had a wonderful night getting dressed up, viewing the beautiful trees, eating an amazing meal and watching as Intermountain raised over $200,000 dollars! A record breaking night! We are so thankful to have been a part of it all. I would also like to say thank you to Action Print, here in Helena, who donated all of the print work for the invitations and program. They were an absolute pleasure to work with. If you have printing needs and want to support a local business (always a good thing!) go see them! And thank you to all of the many other wonderful business, donators, bidders and everyone who came out over the weekend to show their support for this wonderful organization that does so much for the kids and families of Montana.
Congratulations Intermountain for another successful Festival of Trees! And thank you for allowing us to be a part of it.

Catching Up! ~ The Pirate Returns

Time for some catching up on the blog posting! The last few months have been incredibly busy, both for our personal schedules and the business. We have had a very blessed year in 2011 and are so very thankful for all of our clients! We are so grateful to have been a part of so many wonderful projects and are looking forward to more in the coming new year.

First off, this summer we had a returning client who came to us for a logo for another of his creatively-themed law conferences. Last year we put together a logo and cover image for Pirates at the Settlement Conference. This time, Dean needed something for his Medicare Set-Aside Toolbox Training seminars, and he wanted the logo to portray his unique old school garage theme. The final logo was given a classic red, yellow and black color scheme, with a grill detail and a tool and gavel combination to continue the law element we used in the Pirates logo. It was also fun to hear that our Pirates logo has appeared in his conferences across the country, and that he’s received many compliments on it and his clever, unforgettable theme. Congrats to Dean on the success of his conferences and seminars. We wish you much more in the coming year!

Tea Time!

The first printing for Intermountain’s 2011 Festival of Trees is finished! The invitation for this year’s Tea in the Trees turned out beautifully. It’s hard to capture in a photograph, but the paper is a gorgeous, shimmery linen weave stock that adds that perfect touch to the elegant simplicity of the design.
I can’t wait to see the rest of the projects completed! There’s nothing quite like holding the finished product in your hands.
And don’t forget to mark your calendars for this year’s Festival of Trees, November 30th – December 4th!

The Season Of The Novel Is Upon Us!

In about two weeks we will once again step into my favorite month. Or should I say “fall” in? {Sorry, couldn’t help myself.} I am currently in the midst of furious plotting and planning for my third year of NaNoWriMo. If you don’t know what that is, I’ll give you the short version: November, worldwide National Novel Writing Month, 50,000 words, 30 days. For more detailed info, go here: nanowrimo.org.
I’ve finally managed to ~~shirk~~ set aside my other responsibilities long enough to put together a background for this year’s festivities. This is my ode to Chris Baty, founder of NaNoWriMo, who will be passing his leadership torch on to a new wordsmith after 2011. I do so hope that he will find time during all his new marvelous writing adventures to send more witty encouragements to all of us through our inboxes in future NaNoWriMo pep talks for years to come.

Masterpiece Theater

We were lucky enough to have two returning clients last month – the first one being the lovely Dana Holzer, chaplain at Intermountain. We had the privilege of designing the logo for their annual summer puppet show last year, and it was time once again to create a new logo to reflect this year’s “Courage” theme. After some collective brainstorming the tag line, CRG Radio: On the Air was chosen. Dana’s script involved one of the kids hearing an encouraging song on the radio and she wanted the logo to reflect that. The end result was this colorful, musical design. As always, we’re grateful to be able to work with such a great client in both Dana and Intermountain. Thanks Dana, for bringing us in on this project again!

Intermountain’s 2011 Festival of Trees

Here it is – the big reveal! This year’s Festival of Trees theme is Black Tie, White Christmas! And here’s the logo!

It was so much fun creating this logo, and I am thrilled with the response it’s received so far. I’m so thankful to be a part of this project and I can’t wait to see it all come together in December. Next step: Invitations!
